Rain by RainerKalwitz Rain by RainerKalwitz
"Rain" (2005), acrylics on illustration board, 30 x 40 cm / 11,7 x 15,6 in.

"…I light two candles in the window of my mind
The wind that threatens I've no words left to describe
Resisting the fates
When mercy comes to shelter me
Over and over I am witness to the signs
Evil's more focused as we near the end of times
Praying so hard that your shelter comes to cover me

Plagues and famine and hate
All fall into the rain, let it go, let it go
The whole world floods in the rain – the rain…"

(extracts from the song "Rain", album "Room V" by the band SHADOW GALLERY, InsideOutMusic)

I did this small painting as an illustration for the song "Rain", somehow as a backcover illustration for the album "Room V", as it is the last song on the album…

Daily Deviation

Given 2006-02-24
In a technique deeply paralleling the level of detail achieved by established masters like Mark Wilkenson, Rain by ~RainerKalwitz is quite distinct and captures motion and mood with a dexterity that doe snot compromise nuance. ( Suggested by chrizcruz and Featured by zeruch )

Hello!
I just came across your work while browsing the site and thought you may be interested in an art contest sponsored by talentcall.com. The winner gets $175... not sure of all of the details, my friend is involved in that website so I thought I'd let you know so you could visit the site and submit this piece - the competition is for Shadow Art... they also have other competitions

Great Work!

Thanks for taking a look. Again, I just enjoyed your art and thought of TalentCall (they always have art, photo, dance, film, etc.) contests going on... not sure on what specifically.

Love your work~!

A good song for this picture would be "Please Don't Stop the Rain" by James Morrison.

Cool painting. I'm surprsed by its small size, too. It's so tightly detailed.

The imagery is very dreamlike and contemplative.

I’m amazed at how you did the rain. I attempted to do rain and it looked like chicken scratch of blue. Very un-rain like. The candles to the side look like photograph images of candles and not acrylics and it amazes me. =o

Wow! I absolutely LOVE the atmosphere on this! Of course, the fact that I live in the desert and long for rain might have something to do with it....but really, I do believe it's the art. This is gorgeous! *stares* I didn't know it was possible to do something this cool with acrylics.

I don't know the final fantasy stuff. Although my work is very much categorized as "fantasy" I don't know much about that scene and the artists...
I call my art "phantastic realism" :-)
